Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Game Features Detailed
Today is the first official day of the Nintendo 3DS Price drop and there are some exciting prices around the UK at the moment, for example Tesco are selling the Nintendo 3DS for as little as £115, which is a 50% price cut, in terms of its original RRP price of £230, but thats not what i’m here to mention.
Today Nintendo Of Europe (NOE) announced the features that the Nintendo 3DS Amassador games will contain, i.e. the 10 NES games and the 10 GBA Games – all of which are currently exclusive to people who purchased a Nintendo 3DS and connected to the eShop before today.
Firstly the 10 NES Games will become available for Ambassador’s to download on the 1st September 2011, and will have these features enabled:
- A basic electronic manual giving only the controls
- Alternating multiplayer (taking turns) on one system in games that support it, like Super Mario Bros.
- VC Suspend function (saves the game where you left off when you press the Home button, like on the Wii)
The ten NES Games will be released for everyone to purchase later on in the year and will come with updated features (such as Save points, reset etc) – once the games are released to everyone an update will become available for the ambassadors allowing them to update to the newest version free of charge and the updated versions will include these features:
- A full electronic manual detailing all gameplay features and modes
- Simultaneous multiplayer on multiple systems in games that support it (like Ice Climbers)
- Restore Point function (as used in Game Boy VC games just now, it lets you create a save point as you play the game and come back to it if you mess up)
The 10 GBA games that will become available at a later point in time are a different story, these games are being exclusively released for the ambassadors and will not be released onto the eShop for anyone else to download, they have also be designed to work exactly like the original GBA Games, so don’t expect any advanced features like the updated NES games that are coming. The features that will be included in the GBA games are:
- A full electronic manual
- No VC Suspend or Restore Point functionality, though any game with a game save feature will work as normal
- If you close your 3DS it won’t go into Sleep mode.
Nintendo Of Europe have also mentioned that a firmware update will be released before the games are made available on the eShop and that this new firmware will allow users to transfer the Virtual Console games over onto a new 3DS console, much like the DSiware software transfer system that was recently added.
